Meta (formerly known as Facebook, Inc.) has officially introduced a new prompt featuring an AI chatbot that will now be integrated into Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger. This feature, presented with a prompt “Ask Meta AI Anything,” aims to enhance the user experience across these platforms under the Meta umbrella.
Just last month, Meta also introduced a new AI assistant built with ‘Meta Llama 3.’ “Meta AI is one of the world’s leading AI assistants, already on your phone, in your pocket for free. And it’s starting to go global with more features. You can use Meta AI on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger to get things done, learn, create and connect with the things that matter to you,” the company wrote.
Now, because of advancement made by Meta, users can now access a wide range of services through its platforms. Users can use the artificial intelligence assistance as a dictionary, guidebook, counselor, or illustrator with just one click away. The goal of Mark Zuckerberg, the chief officer of Meta, “is to build the world’s leading AI and make it available to everyone,” by standing as a competitor against ChatGPT by launching its own standalone AI website Meta.ai, although there is still parts in the world where the website is still inaccessible.
Mark Zuckerberg also admitted, “I don’t think that today many people really think about Meta AI when they think about the main AI assistants that people use. But I think that this is the moment where we’re really going to start introducing it to a lot of people, and I expect it to be quite a major product.” Together with the power of Meta, he promised that they will strive to offer the best service its users could ever ask for by improving the features and range of their own AI-assistance that will soon be the top used platform.
Although this feature of Meta is something that many users look forward to, Jaime Sevilla, an AI technology researcher, warned the public of the dangers and possible downsides of using chatbots not just of Meta, but artificial intelligence services in general for there are some features that harvest private information of users in improving the AI models. This risk is what they should be mindful of when using the said services. “We might live in a world where the part that humans play in social media is a small part of the whole thing.” Sevilla also added.
