Filipino actress Francine Diaz makes light of her mispronouncing TXT’s full group name

Phew, good thing the fans aren’t as brutal as the others, right?

ICYMI: TXT bagged a lot of awards in the recently concluded and first-ever Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) last April 10, 2024. The newest awards show, made by Newsen and @star1 magazine, recognized K-Pop and Asian artists who had shined the most in the last year.

Numerous famous and rookie groups were celebrated for their performances, such as Stray Kids, DAY6, TREASURE, ZEROBASEONE, NCT WISH, TWS, Billlie, INI, NiziU, and more.

TXT, in particular, gained lots of attention for winning 4 awards—Artist of the Year, The Platinum, Best Performance (Group), and Global K-Pop Leader. Apart from winning a lot that night, the group also was the talk of the night after Francine Diaz, a Filipina actress, cutely mispronounced TXT’s full group name! Yes, both artists turned viral that night.

And we totally get it—their name is literally Tomorrow x Together. When you read it out loud the first time, the “X” might be the “multiply” term in mathematics. But really, you’re supposed to read it as “Tomorrow By Together.”

MOAs, TXT’s fans, were gratefully gracious about the whole matter and even commended Francine Diaz for trying to read the group’s name properly.

After realizing her mistake, Francine Diaz apologized after mispronouncing the K-Pop boy group’s name. “I’m very sorry for that very big mistake. Pagpasensyahan niyo na po ako dahil hindi na po ako ganon ka-updated sa nangyayari ngayon sa K-pop world. Alam niyo naman ako, dalawang grupo lang ang ini-istan ko. But now, alam ko na, na-educate na po ako. [Please excuse me because I’m not that updated anymore on what’s happening in the K-pop world. You know me, I only focus on two groups. But now, I know, I have been educated.] Tomorrow By Together.”

She also shared how TXT treated her kindly after the slight blunder, and thanked MOAs for treating the mistake in a more positive way.

Francine Diaz did kind of cook that night, though. Imagine going to an awards show, winning 4, and then winning another at the same time? Their awards keep piling up, indeed.
