BTOB makes a powerful Philippine comeback seven years later for ‘Our Dream Fan-con’

The highly awaited ‘BTOB: Our Dream Fan-con’ finally happened on April 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Prior to the event, the Korean boy group BTOB held a press conference to celebrate their return to Manila after seven years. In honor of their 12th anniversary since their debut, they decided to share the celebration with fans as a token of gratitude for their unwavering support through various challenges and solo endeavors.

While thrilled to be back, both the members and fans felt a tinge of sadness due to Sung-jae’s absence, busy with preparations for his upcoming solo comeback. Eunkwang reassured fans of the group’s dedication, expressing their excitement to reconnect with the Filipino Melodies and perform songs tailored to their tastes.

During the conference, the members shared their aspirations for the future, with Hyunsik expressing his desire to continue performing for Melodies as a group for many more years. When asked about their favorite memories with Filipino Melodies, Hyunsik fondly recalled meeting fans during his diving activities in the Philippines, cherishing the experiences in various locations like Apo Island, Cebu, Bohol, and Mindoro.

Towards the end of the conference, Eunkwang shared a Filipino phrase he had learned, “Our Pilipinas Melody, ‘kay ganda. Today, walang uuwi. [Our Philippine Melody, how beautiful. Today, no one will go home.] ” Peniel concluded with words of anticipation for the upcoming show, expressing hopes for a return visit and urging everyone to have a great time.

Filipino Melodies ensured that the event offered a memorable experience for fans, so they organized a fan project called “Barrio Melodies.” Fans lined up along Pacific Drive near MOA Arena to receive their free scoop of Filipino ice cream, beating the heat while awaiting the official start of the event. Some fans also created their own giveaways for their fellow Melodies.

BTOB kicked off their concert with “The Song” followed by fan favorites like “Pray” and “Higher.” Their touching performance of “It’s Okay” brought tears to fans’ eyes as they witnessed it live.

After the initial performance, the members introduced themselves individually, sharing Filipino phrases such as “Sobrang na miss ko kayo [I missed you so much]” and “Ang ganda n’yo pa rin [You’re still beautiful.]

Changsub explained that due to their immense longing for their fans, they decided to blend a fan meeting and concert into one event, incorporating a mission game relay to entertain the audience.

The game featured five segments, each showcasing the playful and energetic side of the boys.

Members also shared their favorite Filipino foods, with Peniel favoring halo-halo and expressing plans to try Jollibee later. Minhyuk’s favorite is sinigang, while Hyunsik enjoys buko pie after diving sessions in the Philippines. Changsub humorously mentioned his love for San Miguel beer, while Eunkwang sang a portion of SB19’s “MAPA.”

Before the show began, a message board allowed members to select messages to read aloud. A fan’s request for Hyunsik to say “nakakapagpabagabag” led to humorous attempts by each member, much to the amusement of fans.

As the show progressed, fans joined in singing “Missing You,” a heartfelt moment of unity with the group.

A video surprise from fans featured heartfelt messages of love and support, accompanied by a banner reading, “Today too, thank you BTOB. Today too, I love you BTOB.”

Before their final performance, the group invited fans to participate in creating a reel of memories from the fan-con, showcasing their journey together across various countries.

BTOB concluded their show with an encore performance of “Finale: Our Concert,” leaving fans with memories to cherish.

The event was made possible by Ovation Productions.
