BTS member Jimin’s new single entitled “Closer Than This” left the ARMY, the group’s solid international fandom, emotional after it was released on Friday, December 22.
The singer’s management company, BigHit Music, announced on Wednesday, December 20, that the 28-year-old K-Pop star’s latest solo is a “heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin’s genuine feelings for ARMY.”
The song was released only a few weeks after Jimin and three other bandmates V, Jung Kook and RM enlisted for and have since begun their mandatory service in the South Korean military.
BIGHIT’s content hub and record label HYBE unveiled the more than four-minute-long music video on their YouTube Channel which featured clips throughout the journey of BTS since the dawn of their careers.
The video started with Jimin discussing the track with his team saying, “So in a way, this really is a fan song.”
As the song started, Jimin is seen walking on the streets and posing in front of murals. There are also clips of the BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook from when their career was just beginning, some glimpses into their group’s concerts, and the members receiving awards over the years.
Fans shared their appreciation for Jimin and how the song made them emotional through their comments on YouTube.
They also took to X (formerly Twitter) to talk about Jimin’s new single.
