In the world of music, VINI stands out as a unique girl-trio with their blend of house & electronic beats and club rhythms. Made up of talented musicians Beam, Ply, and Fhong, the band’s journey is a story of passion, creativity, and a commitment to pushing musical boundaries.
In a span of 3 years, the group has already released six singles, including their debut song “The Cage” (2021), followed by”Nocturnal” (2022), “After Hours” (2022), “Late Nite” (2023), “Nudis” (2023), and “Teenager Lullaby” as their recent release.
For these musicians, the journey began with goals they were set on achieving and opportunities they received through consistent work. The oldest member of the group, 28-year-old Beam, just really enjoys music and had always wanted to start a band. 27-year-old Ply, who’s been into music since childhood, just naturally found her way into the music industry. Their youngest, 22-year-old, Fhong, having sung and played guitar since 2014, had a growing passion for music and has dreamt of becoming a successful artist–prior to VINI, she already debuted as a solo artist in 2020.
VINI took shape when former bandmates Beam and Ply decided to start anew after the disbandment of their previous group, FEVER, on July 31, 2021. Seeking a guitarist with good vocals, they found Fhong through their network, sparking the beginning of their musical journey as the now trio girl group, which debuted on December 8, 2021, under the record label Crazy Mondae.
The dynamics of the band revolve around Fhong being the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, Ply handling the bass guitar and synth bass, and Beam contributing as the DJ, and operating the synthesizer. All members are considered as vocalists. When it comes to songwriting, Fhong keeps it simple. Sometimes they start with melodies or instrumentals, other times it’s about penning down lyrics. Their creative and unique melodies are made from any kind of inspiration that arises.
When creating their music, the group makes a team effort and collaborates with their producers – brainstorming concepts collectively with each member bringing in their musical touch, resulting in a unique sound that defines VINI. With their sound revolving around electronic, house, and club beats, Jungle is a big influence on their style.
Advancing their steps in releasing more songs and solidifying their artistic direction, VINI has drawn inspiration from their last concert tour in Japan last February 2023, where they were inspired to create a new era for VINI; representing their band with a more impactful identity through releasing their first ever Album which is currently in the making.
As a relatively new band, VINI is still in the process of exploring their potential in music taste and style, while their intentions for every song remain pure and artistic. Describing their songs as stories of perspectives and emotions, VINI suggests starting with “Teenage Lullaby” to connect with their music.
Wanting to set on the global stage to perform rather than just staying on the records, recognition for their unique sound and identity is what VINI aims for. They dream of performing globally and creating lasting memories with their fans through concerts and festivals.
With their unique composition of being an all-girls electronic band (with a DJ, guitarist, and bassist) exploring and combining diverse genres, and deliberately avoiding musical limits, VINI is confident in their edge to stand out for their fresh concepts.
So far, the highlight of the career of each member revolves around meeting and collaborating with talented and skilled professionals, finding joy in playing music, and enjoying every known performance with their beloved fans through their tours.
As the youngest talented member of the group with big dreams, Fhong envisions the band in the next 5-10 years to be widely known for the impact of their songs and activities. Looking ahead, VINI will hold a commitment to the music industry and a dedication to continuous growth and exploration.
As VINI continues its musical journey, the trio remains committed to creating tunes that resonate with people everywhere, keeping it simple, relatable, and filled with the universal language of music.
