Daddy Yankee officially bids farewell to the reggaeton scene, announcing his retirement after concluding his farewell tour, ‘La Meta,’ in Puerto Rico. In a heartfelt speech following a dynamic performance of his iconic hit “Gasolina,” the 46-year-old singer expressed a shift in focus from a life of success to one with purpose.
He shared, “My people, this day for me is the most important day of my life. And I want to share it with you because living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose,” Despite global acclaim and awards, he revealed a longstanding sense of unfulfillment, which led to a transformative realization during the event at Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

As tears poured out, Daddy Yankee confessed, “Those days are over. Someone was able to fill that emptiness.” Quoting a Bible verse in Spanish, he emphasized the significance of prioritizing the soul over worldly achievements.
The rapper, known for hits like “Despacito,” disclosed his decision to embrace a new chapter under his birth name, Ramón Ayala. He declared, “All the tools that I have in my possession such as music, social networks, platforms, microphone and everything that Jesus gave me will now be dedicated to His kingdom.”
Expressing gratitude to Puerto Rico, he invited followers on his journey of spiritual awakening. In an unexpected revelation, Daddy Yankee openly declared, “Jesus lives in me, and I will live for Him.” As drones illuminated the sky with a cross and the message “Cristo viene” (“Christ will come”), fans witnessed a profound transformation in the artist’s public persona.

Despite already being known as an artist who believes in Christian Faith, what Ramón Ayala gave to fans that night has surely engraved the vision of religion into their hearts, and has beautifully closed his career in reggaeton to a close.
