‘Ma’am Chief Shakedown in Seoul’ cast share exciting filming experiences during mediacon

A fun-filled afternoon occurred as the stars and creators came together to promote their film “Ma’am Chief Shakedown in Seoul” at their mediacon on November 10, 2023, at the Hilton Manila in Pasay.

Present at the event are stars Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, Alora Sasam, Karylle, Jennica Garcia, Bernadette Allyson-Estrada, Enzo Almario, Sela Guia, Manel Sevidal, Dustine Mayores, Moon Kyung, Gabriel Choi, Rolling Quartz, and Do Ji Han alongside its creators with Kring Kim making her directorial debut, Happee Sy-Go, the producer, and their writer, Sofia Hazel Calayag.

The event started with the introduction of the creators and cast members which turned into somewhat of a fashion show. Shenanigans ensued during that segment.

mediaconAlthough they were not allowed to divulge what was going to happen in the film, they gave us a glimpse of what it’s like to work on this wonderful project.

Melai was in deep shock when she was chosen for the lead role in the film. She said, “Sobra akong kinabahan kasi hindi ko alam kung anong pinakain namin kay Inang Reyna (Happee Sy-Go) at ni Madam Kring kung bakit ako ang napili nga nila. So it feels so nervous yet so glamorous.” [I got very nervous because I don’t know what we fed to Ms. Happee and Ms. Kring why they chose me.]

Sobra akong naamaze talaga. Ito talaga yung masasabi ko na ‘God moves in mysterious ways,” she added [I was really so amazed. This is really what I would say my ‘God moves in mysterious ways].

She credited Sy-Go for noticing her during the graduation of her daughter which the producer’s son is also studying 7 years ago. “Kung hindi kami nalate, baka hindi ako mapansin ni Inang Reyna doon” [If we weren’t late, she might have not noticed me back then].

With her exposure to different fans and communities in the K-pop world, she wanted to tell a story through their lens.

Everyone in the cast was carefully chosen by the team to fit the role of the character and even the littlest details in the movie also went through a rigorous process to get to the final product.

This was a memorable experience for the cast as they were able to shoot in Korea and some of them got to do some amazing action scenes.

Writer Sofia Calayag revealed this is somewhat her love letter to her mom as she was also a former policewoman.

The event ended with the team thanking those who attended and encouraging everyone to spread the word about their movie.

Ma’am Chief Shakedown in Seoul premieres in cinemas on November 15.
