EXO-Ls react to EXO’s back-to-back headlines for the past few days

SM Entertainment and EXO-Ls have each been having their field days—all thanks to EXO.

For the past few days, EXO-Ls have been bombarded with news about different EXO members, such as Baekhyun voicing Ezreal as part of League of Legends’ newest virtual band HEARTSTEEL, Chanyeol and Sehun rumored to be leaving SM Entertainment to pursue their individual careers, and quite literally recently, D.O.’s contract with the agency ending in November and him becoming a CEO of his own agency with a former SM Ent. manager.

Here are some short summaries of the news about the different EXO members mentioned.

Baekhyun to voice Ezrael for League of Legends’ virtual group HEARTSTEEL

Baekhyun to voice Ezrael for League of Legends’ virtual group HEARTSTEEL

On October 17, 2023, Riot Games announced the lineup for their newest virtual group, HEARTSTEEL, featuring renowned K-Pop idol Baekhyun.

HEARTSTEEL consists of six members- Ezreal, Kayn, Aphelios, Yone, K’Sante, and Sett. Baekhyun will voice Ezreal, Taiwanese-American rapper ØZI will voice Sett, Nigerian singer Tobi Lou will voice K’Sante, and American musician Cal Scruby will voice Kayn. Aphelios and Yone are set to be the group’s songwriter and producer.

The group will drop their first single, ‘Paranoia’ on October 23, 2023. The group is Riot Games’ fourth virtual group, following metal band Pentakill, K-Pop group K/DA, and hip hop group True Damage.

Chanyeol and Sehun rumored to be leaving SM Entertainment to pursue individual activities

Chanyeol and Sehun

On October 17, 2023, entertainment industry insiders were reported by SBS Entertainment News to have said that EXO’s Sehun and Chanyeol had signed contracts with an agency founded by Jung Hoon-tak, who was the former CEO of iHQ and an advisor to the Korea Entertainment Management Association.

The two were also said to have agreed with SM Entertainment to do this while maintaining their EXO activities under them.

However, SM Entertainment responded to this by stating, “It is not true that Chanyeol and Sehun have moved to a new agency. The contracts that EXO members signed with SM Entertainment at the end of last year remain valid, and EXO activities will continue to proceed under SM Entertainment.”

The agency also clarified that the members have also made a conditional agreement with them that allows them to establish their own companies while still being a member of EXO under SM Entertainment.

EXO’s D.O. to leave SM Entertainment, but will still continue to be an EXO member

D.O

On October 18, 2023, Korean media outlet JTBC reported that the EXO member had founded an agency called Company SooSoo, along with his longtime manager Nam Kyung-soo, and will be joining that agency following the end of his contract with SM Entertainment.

The agency later confirmed this on the same day, saying that D.O.’s contract will expire in November 2023, and added that he will still remain an EXO member.

“Following thorough discussions with D.O., it has been decided that he will continue his EXO activities with SM, but will proceed with his acting and individual activities through the newly established agency founded by his and SM’s former manager.” Said SM Entertainment according to a Soompi translation.

Following all of that, EXO-Ls have been feeling quite happy about all of it. “Dasurv” kumbaga, in Filipino internet lingo. Some have been feeling gleeful, especially how other fandoms have always been saying that the group will soon disband.

Congratulations on all of this good EXO news! EXO-Ls, fighting! EXO saranghaja!
