On the episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda last October 9, actor Alden Richards made a huge confession that he had feelings for former love team Maine Mendoza.
In his interview, he said, “Yes po. Hypocrite po ako kung hindi and yes po. Ayoko pong sabihin na alam niya. Pero I did. I did confess.” [Yes. I’m a hypocrite if I didn’t and yes. I don’t want to say that she knows but I did. I did confess.].
“Aldub” is the ship name of Alden and Yaya Dub which was Maine’s ‘alias’ when she started in “Eat Bulaga’s” segment “Kalyeserye.” The love team rose to fame in 2015 which led to them working on several projects and advertisements together.
The actor was also asked by the host if he considers Aldub as his biggest romance and if is it also his biggest breakup to which he agreed. He said, “I am very grateful for Maine. I am very grateful to Eat Bulaga by all means, sincerely.”
“It’s also a breakup but let’s remove the negative context of breakup in this conversation with Aldub,” he added. “It doesn’t necessarily mean that when you’re going through a breakup, laging masama, laging masakit, laging malungkot [that is always bad, always hurting, always sad]. It was a breakup because both of us, Maine and I, we needed growth. We needed to venture out into our individual lives, to learn more, and move forward.”
Somehow, people have mixed thoughts about what he said on the show with some even questioning his sincerity.
