South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and actor Ok TaecYeon held his ‘SpecialTY’ 2023 OK TAECYEON ASIA FAN MEETING TOUR, with Manila as one of his tour stops. The fan meeting took place on September 23, 2023, at the New Frontier Theater. The venue was filled with Filipino OKtizens (TAECYEON’s fandom name) who showed their love and support for their idol despite the unpredictable weather.
TAECYEON is a member of the K-Pop boy group 2PM. He started off his fan meeting with ‘Magic,’ one of 2PM’s songs that fired up the feels of his Filipino OKtizens and Hottest (2PM’s fandom name).
After his performance, TAECYEON surprised his fans as the singer prepared a Filipino introduction: “Hello! Ako ay si borta (translates to masculine) TAECYEON. Namiss ko kayo talaga. Welcome po sa lahat dito sa fan meeting…” that made OKtizens laugh and appreciate the idol’s effort in learning the language.
When asked about what he feels like seeing all his fans show up, TAECYEON thanks his fans for spending their time and going to his fan meeting despite the heavy rains. It has been 10 years since he came here to Manila and he’s grateful for the love, hospitality, and response that he received from his Filipino fans. The idol also said that it’s been too long since he’s been here and wants to stay longer and possibly come back soon.
The idol’s fan meeting title ‘SpecialTY’ sparked fan’s curiosity and asked what’s the meaning behind it. It was mentioned that TAECYEON took a huge part in preparing for this fan meet and answered that from the word ‘special’, he wants his fan meeting to be special and the TY stands for his name, TaecYeon.
The fan meeting had various segments or what they call ‘corner’. This includes the first segment, “SpecialTY – TYMI TYTIME” or TMI, and another segment called TaecYeon’s Present where he picks a sticky note from a board filled with notes and requests from his fans that he happily accepts like giving his fans a chance to hug and take a selfie with him, MomentT MemorY where they flashed special never-seen photos of TAECYEON on what’s his daily life looks like.
Everyone fell harder on TAECYEON as the idol prepared a very special song for his Filipino fans, ‘Forevermore’ that filled the venue with sweet voices from fans who are singing along with him.
To wrap up, he was asked about his night, he said that he had so much fun and he would like to come back as soon as possible. It might take some time but he promises that he will come back.
TAECYEON surely had an amazing night performing and seeing his Filipino OKtizens smiling and said that it made him smile as well.
He concluded his fan meeting with his songs and one of his encore songs, ‘Hands Up.’
