Fans of SB19, known as A‘TINs, are making the buzz on social media after a viral harsh comment directed at the P-pop boy group’s member Ken Suson circulated.
The comment was an ad hominem attack, making fun of his hosting skills and Bisaya descent. Moreover, it imposed the idea that Bisaya people were “ignorant” and called them “taong bundok.” The statement went viral after PPOPCON Manila 2023, where host Ai dela Cruz invited Suson to host, to which he declined.
The member posted a screenshot of the negative comment on his Instagram story, and wrote, “LOL CRAZY MARILYN.” The story has been deleted as of writing.
Fans were quick to address the issue on Twitter to defend Suson and call out “Marilyn’s” unpleasant behavior. Others argue that the artist will release a new track, presumably about the incident, after Suson posted another Instagram story with the caption, “Thank you sa lyrics.”
Indeed, social media is a free avenue to voice out our own opinions and thoughts about the things we see. However, it is not a “free pass” to disrespect someone, or anyone, just because we are merely behind our screens. Let this be a lesson to all social media users to use the internet for a good cause.
