NCT DREAM escape an MBTI-ruled world for their latest comeback

The K-Pop industry has surely been taken over by the ’16 Personalities’ test. Well, except NCT DREAM’s Renjun (haha).

On July 17, 2023, at 6 P.M. KST, NCT DREAM released their third full-length album titled, ‘ISTJ.’ The album’s digital release on all streaming platforms was accompanied by the music video of the album’s title track of the same name.

This full-length album comes a year and 5 months after ‘Glitch Mode,’ and 7 months since their 6th EP ‘Candy.’ On July 10, 2023, SM Entertainment had announced that NCT DREAM’s upcoming album had surpassed 4.1 million stock pre-orders and was the group’s highest number of stock pre-orders to date, breaking the past record of 2.07 million stock pre-orders for ‘Glitch Mode.’

One song from the album, titled ‘Broken Melodies’ had served as the album’s pre-release single and was released last June 19, 2023. The ‘ISTJ’ album consists of 10 songs with 2 singles—‘Broken Melodies’ and ‘ISTJ.’ Another track on the album, titled ‘Poison’ was given a track video as well and teased to fans last July 7, 2023.

‘ISTJ,’ the title track, is described as a “hybrid hip-hop dance song” with lyrics telling the story of an ENFP type person to understand how an ISTJ person is and to break stereotypes set by the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) test.

NCTzens were totally impressed with NCT DREAM’s newest release and had praises for all of the songs on the album. Others even called the beat change in ‘ISTJ’ as similar to SNSD’s ‘I Got A Boy’ and the iconic line, “Don’t stop, let’s bring it back to 140.”

Congratulations to another ‘slayful’ comeback from NCT DREAM!
