Here for Queers 2023 is a week-long campaign celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) with the global theme of “Together Always: United in Diversity.”
From May 17 to 20, 2023, UP Babaylan will be conducting various initiatives to further raise awareness of the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community. All profits from this week’s activities will be donated to our beneficiary, Pinoy Deaf Rainbow.
One of this week’s activities are Here for Queers 2023: Bazaar. With the goal of supporting queer-owned businesses within the UP community, the bazaar offers an avenue for queer business owners to showcase their works and promote their products. Aside from that, the bazaar will host a cloth swap booth and free HIV testing. The Bazaar will be held at the Rainbow Crosswalk, West Wing of Palma Hall, on May 17-19 from 11 AM to 5 PM.
The Multidimensional FSL Workshop is a fundraising event that will be held on May 19, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the UP Diliman Student Union Building Room 10. With the goal of teaching basic FSL and raising awareness of the experiences of people who are both in the deaf and LGBTQIA+ community, this workshop furthers our advocacy towards accepting unique and varied experiences within the queer community.
To cap off Here for Queers 2023, UP Babaylan is proud to present IDAHOBIT week’s culminating activity, Benefit Concert: An Interstellar Night. This fundraising event will be held on May 20, 2023, at Sky Bistro. Featuring a variety of performers and artists, this night of intergalactic fun and revelry aims to showcase queer talent and artistry.
