Another proof of how a breakup isn’t always bad.
Last April 14, 2023, DAWN guested on 1theK’s YouTube series “Look Me Up,” where guest stars search their names on social media pages and online communities to “clear the air” on some reports and comments about them.
While looking at his profile page, DAWN saw a comment that mentioned his breakup with HyunA, which almost broke the K-Pop community on Twitter when HyunA announced it. DAWN commented on it saying, “Since we are probably the people in this world who understand each other best, no matter what decision we made then, we support each other. And it’s the same now.”
DAWN also brought up the reason why he pressed ‘like” on HyunA’s Instagram post (which has now been deleted) and said that it was his way of showing his support for her decision.
After their breakup had made waves on social media, DAWN also announced that he would be taking strong legal action towards those spreading false information about HyunA. At that time, according to DAWN, he felt so angry at the incident and said, “Even though we’ve broke up, if that kind of situation happened now, I think I would do the same.”
DAWN had also shared his current feelings for HyunA after he had been asked off-camera if he had still loved her. “To be hoenst, I feel the same [as before]. Whether I’ve broken up with HyunA, we date again, or have whatever relationship is not what’s important. Because I just love HyunA as a person, I think I will love HyunA even if we’re both on completely different paths in the future with other people.”
The topic of their engagement rings also came up, with DAWN revealing that he didn’t propose with the intention of getting married. He explained this by saying, “Since I liked her so much, I obviously had the thought of ‘if I want to get married later on, I definitely want to marry her, but at the time, I just wanted to give her a ring.”
DAWN also addressed the articles circulating which were insinuating that the two had gotten back together shortly after they broke up. Instead of refuting or confirming these reports, DAWN said that he felt tired of public opinions.
“I think even just saying ‘it’s true, it’s false’ is funny. What’s most important is that I wish HyunA and I were not viewed by our relationship. Whether we’re together right now or not, we love, know, and understand each other the most. Anyway, it’s true that we’re on each other’s sides and will be in the future too.”
HyunA and DAWN’s relationship will always be a momentous moment in the K-Pop industry, for having publicly declared their love and dealt with criticisms gracefully.
