NCT subunit NCT DoJaeJung makes their electrifying debut with ‘Perfume’

Ngl, this song made me blush a ‘lil.

On April 17, 2023, NCT DOJAEJUNG made their highly anticipated debut with their 1st mini album, “Perfume.” The trio, comprised of NCT’s Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Jungwoo, is NCT’s first fixed sub-unit after NCT 127, NCT DREAM, and WayV.

The sub-units’s formation was said to have been conceptualized following their unit performance in NCT 127’s “Neo City – THE LINK” concert in Seoul, South Korea. In an interview, they shared that they “realized that [we] had great vocal chemistry and an ability to various music genres and styles,” and that they “began to wonder what [we] would sound like as a group.”

“Perfume” consists of 6 tracks, including the title track of the same name. Another song, titled “Can We Go Back,” is what the trio had performed in the NCT 127 concert as an unofficial sub-unit. The album’s genre is R&B, which fits the vocal colors of the members completely.

“Perfume,” the EP’s title track, is an R&B electro funk genre highlighting all of the members’ vocals, and with lyrics that express their want to “leave their scents” on those they love.

NCTzens were (rightfully) blessed with beautiful vocals and visuals from NCT DoJaeJung, and expressed all of their emotions on social media while giving their full support for the trio.

SM Entertainment was so right for actually forming NCT DoJaejung for real, because they just ate in all of their tracks.
