The Ghoul Boys are back to unravel solved and unsolved mysteries in ‘Mystery Files’

The internet’s favorite detectives are back, this time embarking on another mystery adventure in a new web series.

On March 3, the internet’s favorite detectives-slash-ghost hunters broke some surprising news for their fans as they unveiled Mystery Files, a brand new mystery series to be hosted by former Buzzfeed Unsolved creators Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej . The duo made the announcement on the social media accounts of their production company Watcher accompanied by its first teaser trailer.

“Welcome to Mystery Files. Let’s get into the theories,” the network wrote accompanied by the show’s first teaser trailer.

The 50-second clip featured sound bites from Ryan and Shane where they can be heard talking about dead bodies and animals, shady government business, and conspiracy theories.

“This is a new show. We’re having fun. We’re teaching each other things,” Shane said in the background.

Of course, no Ryan-and-Shane-show is ever complete without the pair’s signature banter. And just like in Unsolved, viewers will surely get another chance to see the duo roasting each other while investigating bizarre and darkest cases.

“Well, there’s a bit of mystery,” Shane told Ryan towards the end of the video, with the latter responding, “We do love a good mystery over here.”

Fans of the Ghoul Boys were thrilled as soon as they caught wind of the news the duo had up in their sleeves. Even Watcher themselves joined to share their excitement as well!

Ryan also took to Twitter to express his excitement about announcing Mystery Files and sharing it with their fans.

“This series is perhaps the most collaborative I’ve ever been a part of,” Ryan said in a statement. He then continued to thank the Watcher team for making Mystery Files possible where he and Shane can share their latest fascinations.

“Shane and I finally have a forum to cover all the strange, uncategorizable things that fascinate us and share them all with you,” he added.

Fans of Unsolved will be glad to hear that Mystery Files is gleefully familiar, but according to Ryan, the show will also feel foreign as the pair of investigators will talk about both solved and unsolved mysteries, “from the creepy to straight-up weird.”

“We all hope you’ll come along the ride. The companion to Ghost Files has finally arrived. So without further ado… let’s get into the theories,” Ryan ended.

According to Watcher, the brand new series Mystery Files will see Ryan and Shane taking turns to present “their latest fascinations to each other covering everything unusual, unexplained, and unhinged.”

While an exact date has yet to be announced, Mystery Files is set to premiere on Watcher’s YouTube channel this May.

Mystery Files is the successor of Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime, the beloved documentary web series also hosted by Ryan and Shane, which ran for eight seasons from 2016 to 2021.

Mystery Files is also the spinoff of Watcher’s Ghost Files, which sees Ryan and Shane investigating haunted places and looking for paranormal evidence. The first season of Ghost Files premiered on September 24, 2022, along with its companion episode Debrief, where the pair answered questions regarding their investigations.

Meanwhile, Watcher also announced the second season of Ghost Files recently began production but as of this writing, the full details are still under lock and key.
