The collab of the century: Taylor Swift confirms new song with Lana Del Rey

The cat is out of the bag (no, not Taylor’s cat, Meredith): Taylor Swift has confirmed a surprise duet with Lana Del Rey in a new song, “Snow on the Beach.”

A few weeks ahead of the release of Swift’s tenth studio album, “Midnights,” the music industry has been teasing and keeping her fans on their toes with her new TikTok series called Midnights Mayhem with Me. The show sees Swift revealing the album’s track titles by way of retrieving a numbered ball in a bingo cage every midnight.

In recent weeks, the Grammy Award-winning artist has revealed all 13 tracks, including “Lavender Haze,” “Anti-Hero,” “Labyrinth,” and “Karma,” a song that fans first speculated was the name of an album, among others.

During the series’ last episode, that’s the time Swift dropped the ball—figuratively—and announced that the fourth track, “Snow on the Beach,” of the album will feature none other than Lana Del Rey.

“Hello and welcome to the final episode of Midnights Mayhem with Me. It’s been genuinely chaotic and I’ve enjoyed every single of it,” the “All Too Well” singer said before revealing the title track. She even smiled on the screen, possibly thinking she and Lana’s fans would freak out once they heard the news.

Indeed, the fans went over the moon on Twitter and raved about, dare I say, the collaboration of the century.

It can be recalled that in April 2022, a group photo of Swift, Del Rey, and producer Jack Antonoff resurfaced on the internet, which made Twitter abuzz with rumors of a possible collaboration between the three artists.

Other than the #TayLana’s rumored collaboration, fans have also theorized that English band The 1975 will also be featured in Swift’s new album after the band’s manager hinted it on Twitter. This rumor, however, has been debunked as Lana Del Rey is the only artist to be featured in “Midnights.” The band’s frontman Matty Healy even wrote on Twitter: “[Y]ou guys actually thought Taylor Swift was gonna have me on her album.”

Swift first announced her 10th studio album, “Midnights,” during this year’s MTV Video Music Awards while accepting the award for winning the Video of the Year category for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).”

In an Instagram post, Swift described “Midnights” as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”
