Noah Cyrus reveals latest song ‘Every Beginning Ends,’ a duet with Benjamin Gibbard

Noah Cyrus continues to tease her forthcoming debut album, The Hardest Part, with a duet alongside Death Cab For Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard titled ‘Every Beginning Ends,’ a spectacularly subtle and heart wrenching country ballad detailing the demise of a tired romance. Recorded in Seattle at Benjamin’s studio, their call-and-response details of a dwindling love further cements Cyrus as one of the best songwriters of her generation. Described as “one of the most pulverizing moments on the album” by Rolling Stone Magazine, Noah explains on this collaboration: “That was such a surreal experience. I’ve always been such a huge fan, so it was pretty daunting to get in the room with him, but once we got to work it all came very naturally.” She continues, “we talked about past relationships, failed relationships, our parents’ relationships, and relationships that have lasted forever. He told me his dad has a saying: ‘you have to wake up and choose to love someone every day,’ and it sparked this conversational song about the twilight of a relationship and the reluctance to admit that something has run its course. I relate to that in many ways, not only with me, but also just with my parents’ relationship. Writing about that gave me more understanding.”

On writing this song with Cyrus, Gibbard shared to Rolling Stone, “I kept coming back to it and just basking in her brilliance,” Gibbard says, comparing her writing style to his friend Jenny Lewis’. “It’s easy to be mysterious. It’s easy to be aloof. It’s easy to be cool. It’s so much harder to be earnest, and it’s so much harder because she’s really opening herself up with a lot of these songs.”

‘Every Beginning Ends” comes with a one take live video recording of Cyrus and Gibbard in the studio, directed by legendary American filmmaker and music video director Lance Bangs, known for creating visuals for the likes of Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pavement and George Harrison.

The Hardest Part is set for release on September 16 [RECORDS/Columbia Records], and for the first time, Noah has released a truly auto-biographical body of work, baring her heart, exploring deeply personal issues from destructive relationships, severe addiction family and the devastating death of a loved one. Brutally honest, The Hardest Part, is a testament to Noah Cyrus as one of Gen Z’s most compelling songwriter; full of heart, honesty, intellect, nuance and soul. Noah has lived every song, and the embers of her experiences burn bright over a soundtrack steeped in pop spirit, folk eloquence, and the country soul of her Nashville roots. Poring every inch of her soul into this record, the 22-year-old over-saw the arrangements and played multiple instruments on the record, working side by side with producer Mike Crossey [Arctic Monkeys, Ben Howard, The 1975, Wolf Alice] at the helm. “Creating the arrangements was the most fulfilling part of this record,” she shares. “Mike and I were so driven and fully engulfed in the music. It was seamless—our brains connected into one. I found a safe place to make music with people I love and trust. The process was really healing for me.” Pre-order/add/save ‘The Hardest Part’ HERE.

On October 4, Noah and her band will be embarking on her North American headlining tour starting in Phoenix, AZ and making 23-stops in total. Noah is also confirmed to perform at this year’s Austin City Limits Festival. For more information go to: www.noahcyrus.com
