Lady Gaga confirmed to star in ‘Joker: Folie A Deux’

Attention, little monsters! Lady Gaga dropped the bomb as she confirmed that she will be starring in the Joker sequel, Folie A Deux, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who is reprising his role as Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. The Joker.

The singer posted a short video teaser of Joker and Harley Quinn dancing to an old music on her official social media accounts along with the caption that reads the title for “Joker 2” and its release date, October 4, 2024. The singer-actress did not give a hint on what role will she will be starring in.

In earlier reports, it was said that the icon was in talks since “Joker 2” would be set into a musical, which will prove Lady Gaga’s prowess in singing. Some are speculating that Lady Gaga will be portraying Harley Quinn in the film. Prior to this report, director Todd Phillips posted a teaser picture on his Instagram with its subtitle “Folie A Deux”, which refers to a shared delusional disorder.

Prior to the release of the sequel in October 2024, 2019’s Joker was a box office phenomenon, hitting $1 billion dollars and became the highest grossing R-rated movie in history. It also earned 11 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Lead actor Joaquin Phoenix also got his Oscars for Best Actor.

Lady Gaga has also been busy building her acting portfolio including 2018’s remake of A Star is Born where she bagged an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Recently, she was seen in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci in 2021.
