Logan Lerman is excited for the ‘Percy Jackson’ series but he won’t be in it

Logan Lerman, the actor who originally portrayed Percy Jackson in the book series’ movie adaptations, has stated that he will not be starring in the upcoming season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but he is very thrilled about the upcoming series.

“I’m really excited,” Lerman told The Hollywood Reporter about his thoughts on the series while on the red carpet for his latest project, Bullet Train, last Monday night. “Curious to see it — everything I’ve seen so far, peripherally, just about casting and how they’re doing it, and that Rick [Riordan] is running it, just makes me happy. It makes me happy for the fans and excited for this new generation to watch it.”

He also confirmed that he will not be participating in the series but that his return would depend on some factors.

“It’s an interesting question because – could you? Sure. But I’m not. I’m not,” he answered, acknowledging that any possible return would “just depend on certain factors, a number of things, but most importantly the quality of the script and the role.”

“But they haven’t talked to me. They don’t want me in it, I don’t think,” the actor continued. “I probably would’ve heard something by now. But either way, who cares? It’s awesome that they’re making it, and I’m excited to see them do it.”

Regardless of whether or not he’ll be included in the series cast, Lerman is still excited to see Percy and his friends in another adaptation.

Becky Riordan, the wife of Percy Jackson series author Rick Riordan, confirmed on Twitter that Lerman will not be taking part in the series adaptation. Although some fans hoped to see Lerman in the Disney+ adaptation, unfortunately, he will not appear in the film.

“Super sweet! Thanks, Logan! Fans, when he says ‘I’m not,’ this is true. Please stop asking this talented actor if he is in our show!” Becky Riordan wrote. “I know, I know, I too dream of Percy saying to his father, ‘Why do you look like the guy from that movie?’ Sadly this is not happening.”

Logan Lerman portrayed Percy Jackson in the two film adaptations of the book series, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013. Starring alongside him in the films were Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase and Brandon T. Jackson as Grover Underwood.

The upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series adaptation is directed by James Bobin and written by Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg. It stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. The series is currently in production, and the release date is yet to be confirmed.
