ARMYs welcome BTS’ hiatus with beautiful words of support online

BTS celebrated their 9th year anniversary with a bang…and some tears.

On June 14, 2022, the septet held their #2022BTSFESTA (pre-recorded) dinner where they spent an hour reminiscing about their past, their journey as a group, their new houses (they started living separately, in case you didn’t know), and what they hold most dear. Towards the end of their celebration, however, the K-Pop megastars announced that they will be going on a hiatus.

Suga brought up the conversation first, which RM began by saying that as a member of BTS, he began to “feel lost and directionless” after their release of Butter and Permission to Dance. “I started feeling that I don’t know what kind of a band we are anymore. What kind of music do we want to make? What do we want to say? I believe we should have taken this break long ago, but we kept putting it off.”

And now, K-Pop’s biggest boy band of the moment is taking their well-deserved hiatus to find their voice and direction as a group again and will be focusing on their individual growth and projects. J-Hope himself pointed out that a “hiatus” might seem too negative of a word, especially in the context of K-Pop groups since it usually leads to disbandment, and Jungkook reassured ARMYs that “they will return someday, more mature than now.”

After this announcement, the members will be embarking on their solo activities. The first one on the list is J-Hope’s headlining performance at the Lollapalooza festival on July 31, 2022. V, along with Park Seo-joon, Choi Woo-shik, Park Hyung-sik, and Peakboy, famously known as a group of friends called “Wooga Fam” have also been confirmed to star “In the SOOP: Friendship Trip”, which is a spin-off of the “In the SOOP” series that BTS and SEVENTEEN appeared in.

After hearing this emotional bit of news, ARMYs were of course a little hurt and sad but nevertheless accepted that BTS needed a break. ARMYs have been sending their thanks to BTS, their love, and their wholehearted support on social media, with “ARMY FOREVER”, “BTSBestFriendsOfMyLife” and other tags trending.

You all really deserve a break, BTS. Rest well, and we all know that you’ll be back stronger and better than before. This isn’t the end for BTS or for ARMYs.
