How ‘it’s giving’ and ‘not me’ slang phrases make people seem out of touch

Social media has played a massive role in spreading old and new slang. It seems like there is new lingo to learn almost every week.

With the accumulation of all this new talk, a TikTok trend is going around making fun of it. It’s specifically making fun of/calling out the “it’s giving” and “not the/me” ways of speaking. The slow instrumental sound with the far-fetched responses mixed with “done with it all” reactions of the people doing the trend only adds to the humor. The playful trend reminds people that this isn’t always the best response in certain situations.

Some situations are a bit light, like when talking about what year you were born.

Sometimes you just don’t know how to respond to hearing certain things, but definitely do not say this.

Internet slang can spice up our day-to-day conversations, but just remember to read the room first before you use them.
