In her opinion Martin can no longer handle Jake’s needs, with his desire to connect with his son taking over his life.
Wanting nothing more than to communicate with Jake, Martin seeks the help of Arthur Teller (Danny Glover), a professor and expert on children who possess special skills when it comes to numbers. From Teller he learns that Jake possesses the ability to pick out the hidden patterns that connects us all. By looking at the numbers he discovers that it his job to decipher and identify their meaning. As it is through numbers, not words that Jake connects with his dad.
Putting the pieces of the puzzle together, Martin embarks on a journey that will help people across the globe connect as their lives intersect in the most extraordinary ways according to the patterns Jake foresees. Through his pursuit to bond with his son he will touch the destinies of many.
