In just a few days, singer-songwriter, Issa Rodriguez is set to release her debut EP. Despite only formally immersing herself into the music scene last year, she has already managed to have an artist launch, release two singles, and hold two music video launches. She is described as “the timid, quiet girl you see in a corner cafe, writing down her tunes. Laid back and relaxed, she has that distinct urban and soulful sound that will leave you breathless.”
Containing five, all-original tracks, Issa’s first EP is aptly named ‘Simula’, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the promising future of this young and multi-talented musician. The tracklist is a mix of songs that are both happy and sad, slow and fast, with melodies that are both soothing and strong, and lyrics in both English and Filipino — and yet each song is both relatable and hard-hitting, making for songs that are easy to listen to and understand.
She will be joined by fellow artists and good friends, Coeli, Ben&Ben and spoken word poet, Bob E. Join her as she launches her EP, on Saturday, January 21, 7 PM at The Brewery at the Palace. Entrance is free, and the event is open to all, but be sure to grab a copy of her EP for only 250 pesos.
