If you’re missing Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in Sex And The City, then it’s a worthwhile thing to watch the movie “All Roads Lead To Rome” because Parker channels Carrie’s charm and wit in this movie made almost entirely in Italy.
Maggie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is a single mother from New York City who decides to go to a place in Italy that’s familiar to her from her younger days, as a way of patching things up with her troubled teenage daughter Summer (Rosie Day). In Italy, Maggie meets Luca (Raoul Bova), his former lover, who still happens to be a bachelor, and Luca’s eighty-year-old mother, Carmen (Claudia Cardinale), whose mental capabilities seem to be on the verge of a decline. Unbeknownst to Maggie, Summer has plans to return to New York on her own in an attempt to get away from her mom and help her boyfriend in New York who is facing criminal charges, and unbeknownst to Luca, his mother Carmen has plans to run away to Rome to fulfill a secretly-planned wedding to her true love Marcelino. Both Summer and Carmen agree to help each other get away from Luca and Maggie, and aboard Luca’s vintage sports car, they both race off to Rome. Maggie and Luca find ways to track both daughter and mom, so they turn to local broadcaster and Luca’s former lover (played by Paz Vega) for help. The intended help fails as it becomes misinterpreted by the local media. What follows is an amusing journey to self-discovery, forgiveness, and family reconnection coupled with bits of hilarious situations.
All Roads Lead To Rome is a lighthearted romantic comedy directed by Ella Lemhagen. Expect great cinematography from this movie as it features Italy in a different light. Now showing in cinemas this Valentine season, this movie is brought to us by Octoarts Films International.
