PHLPost, the Philippines’ official postal agency, recently released specially-designed stamps to welcome the Year of the Dog in the Chinese lunar calendar. Versions of the stamp design feature adorable depictions of man’s best friend in the form of a Golden Retriever, which is a popular breed among dog lovers. One of the stamp designs show a somewhat smiling Golden Retriever.
Pet lovers are drawn to the Golden Retriever breed because of its “kindly, friendly and confident” temperament. This type of dog make for a good family pet, as they are known to be patient with kids.
The dog is the eleventh symbol in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs, and in some ways bear some of the best traits known to mankind, such as devotion and honesty. The dog also symbolizes having a sense of responsibility.
PHLPost has printed only 101,000 copies of the two designs of the regular stamps, which go for Php12.00 and Php45.00. There is also a limited edition printout sheets sold at Php200.00 each–an ideal gift for collectors and dog lovers alike.

The official stamps, designed by PHLPost’s in-house artist Rodine C. Teodoro, are currently available at the Post Shop in Central Post Office. The stamps are on sales until November 30, 2018 only.
