The Voice of the Philippines’ season 1 alumnus Paolo Onesa drops a new ‘look’ and brand-new singles “Find You” & “Take You Down”

It’s been two years since The Voice of the Philippines’ season 1 alumnus Paolo Onesa released his debut album “Pop Goes Standards”. The album triumphantly bagged him two Awit Awards in 2014 – Best Performance by A Male Recording Artist and Best Performance by A New Male Recording Artist both for his song “Lucky In Love.”

Now, Paolo reintroduces himself with the release of his newest singles “Find You” and “Take You Down.

“Find You” is an up-tempo track with a touch of EDM/pop crossover genre. “I’ve been eager to release this single. I composed this song two years ago and finally I’ve given a chance to release an original song and happens to be the carrier single for my upcoming sophomore album.”

And just this month, Paolo adds his second follow-up track, “Take You Down” – another feel good upbeat track which he wrote and produced. When asks what’s the inspiration behind his new song, “it just came from me just listening to a lot of EDM songs. And trying to make my own style of music in the EDM genre,” Paolo added.

Paolo admits that this is a big leap and maybe a crucial point in his career considering releasing his original songs, shifting to a new sound, having a new ‘look’, a new music label and being an independent artist. But the 22-year-old newest EDM pop sensation hopes that these two tracks and upcoming record will change people perceptions, and get them to listen to a new Paolo Onesa sound with an open mind. “They (my fans) might be alienated a bit to my new sound but this is really the real me, the music that I want to share and known for, so I am really hoping they will still support me and listen to my new stuff.”

He’s clearly looking forward to releasing his new material that he says will happen “soon.” “I’ve been working really hard on this album for almost a year now. I’ve been going through phases of doing feel good dance music, a little of R&B, and then really hard hip-hop based music, and now I’m in a place of wanting to really bring all those things together to make one cohesive sound. It’s also a big challenged to me to be an independent artist but I am grateful under the wings of Jay-R’s music label, HomeworkZ Music.”

And while the Philippines’ R&B King has given him some valuable advice, Paolo says that he had to make some mistakes on his own. “It’s hard to be an independent artist because you have to be hands on, on everything. It’s a good thing he taught me a lot of stuff but the hard way of learning; from your own mistakes. I would rather choose to learn from someone else’s mistakes, but sometimes I have to figure it out on my own.”

“Find You” and “Take You Down” are just a preview of what is to come for HomeworkZ Music’s newest pride. It showcases Paolo’s growth and his evolution on what he has become after winning the reality singing search. “For the new record, you’ll get to know the real Paolo, not just an alumnus of The Voice. The new songs and of course, my upcoming sophomore album is ME, NOW. It will definitely speaks many things about who I am at present,” said the artist.
