The month of May is about to end! For all we know, the rainy season may be upon us already. Just this Tuesday, some parts of Metro Manila have already experienced light drizzle, offering a cool respite for the really brutal summer heat. Weather apps are also already showing thunderstorm alerts for the next couple of days, signaling everyone to start packing on rain wear and rain gear. So while we have yet to experience a continuous downpour to usher in the momol weather (hopefully not Noah’s Ark level, though), allow the POP! Team to recommend tunes for you to listen to while the rain drops go pitter-patter on the bubungan of your house.

1.) Any Time, Any Place – Janet Jackson

Why listen: Because the rain is making you feel a little brave to go touchy-touchy publicly with your significant other.

What line: I don’t wanna stop just because/People walkin by are watchin us/I don’t give a damn what they think/I want you now

2.) Open – Rhye

Why listen: Because the rain is reminding you that you’re madly in love with someone but it’s complicated.

What line: I wanna make this play/Oh, I know you’re faded/Hmm, but stay, don’t close your hands

3.) True Love – Coldplay

Why listen: Because the rain is making you feel wretched over a failing relationship.

What line: Tell me you love me/If you don’t then lie/Lie to me

4.) Over And Over Again – Nelly featuring Tim McGraw

Why listen: Because the rain is making you remember the pain of a lost love.

What line: Now that I realize/That I’m going down/From all this pain you put me through

5.) Diggin On You – TLC

Why listen: Because the rain is making you think twice about that friend who suddenly professed love for you.

What line: I must admit to you/When I heard the lines you threw/Although it usually turns me off/But this time you have turned me on

6.) Gravity – John Mayer

Why listen: Because the rain is making you want to head to the nearest bar to drink your sorrows away (ala scene from Grey’s Anatomy lol)

What line: What line? Listen to John Mayer’s solo!

7.) One Night – The Corrs

Why listen: Because the rain is reminding you of your one night stand that happened not so long ago.

What line: When morning awakes me/Well I know I’ll be alone/And I feel I’ll be fine/So don’t you worry about me/I’m not empty on my own/For inside I’m alive

8.) Come Away With Me – Norah Jones

Why listen: Because the rain is making you want to run away with someone.

What line: Come away with me and we’ll kiss/On a mountaintop/Come away with me/And I’ll never stop loving you

9.) Photograph – Ed Sheeran

Why listen: Because the rain is making you miss someone so badly.

What line: When I’m away/I will remember how you kissed me/Under the lamppost/Back on 6th street/Hearing you whisper through the phone,”Wait for me to come home.”

10.) Chill Tonight – Boyz II Men

Why listen: Because the rain is making you feel sensual. Haha. Okay fine, maybe you just want to cuddle with your bae.

What line: I know you wanna make love baby/And that’s okay/But baby for tonight let’s just lay
