Johnny Rio releases thoughtful, upbeat track on getting your groove back

Manila, Philippines — 04 June 2021 — Singer-songwriter Johnny Rio’s debut single, “Fight this Disease” is a groovy track inspired by humanity’s drive to reboot life post-pandemic. As vaccines begin their rollout nationwide and businesses slowly begin to reopen, the singer finds himself looking to the future. Although the track was inspired by the country’s recovery from COVID-19, it’s also a call to action that tells listeners everywhere: we still have a lot of work to do if we want to build a better world.

A melting pot of different earworms, Fight this Disease takes its unique sound from Johnny Rio’s wide range of influences: from Michael Jackson’s infectious pop to rhythm-driven 80s-inspired stylings to a pop-rock edge reminiscent of classic anthems. The track is a perfect soundtrack for studying, working out, doing housework, or even heading out to (finally) get vaccinated.

“The point was to be genre-agnostic,” Rio says. “What’s genre anyway? It’s just a label. I wanted to do something fresh, incorporate different sounds and send out the message that moving forward we have to take things such as Covid seriously, help each other bounce back from this and fight diseases which come in all shapes and forms. Medical, social, intellectual—we all have the capacity to change the world for the better and it starts by being curious and creative.”

This hot track’s Official Lyric Video dropped on Spotify July 1st, 2021, and is also out on YouTube.
