Sò Satin was created by Shammy, a 24-year-old who, with her interest in fashion, designed a face mask that combined comfort with style. The name Sò Satin is derived from the “sò,” which is the Portuguese word for “only,” and it’s also Shammy’s initials.
Shammy never thought that she would be able to put up a business during a pandemic, but Sò Satin has come a long way since its founding. As the months passed, it was only obvious that the decrease in demand for masks was bound to happen, so the business needed to look for other ways to incorporate satin into everyday wear.
At first they only sold face masks, but eventually Shammy came up with more ideas for making other products used on a daily basis that are, of course, also made with satin— so they expanded to making other satin products, and with more to come.
In addition to their trendy pieces, what sets Sò Satin apart is their advocacy. A portion of Sò Satin’s proceeds go to Pawssion Project, a Philippines-based animal rescue group.
Shammy shares that she has been a loyal follower of the project since 2019 and has always admired them for what they do. The project’s initiatives when it comes to adoption, rehabilitation and assistance to the strays fills her heart with so much joy knowing there are people who value our furry friends left loitering in the streets.
She shares how she just lost her dog of 11 years, so by helping out Pawssion Project, she feels closer to him knowing she’s helping in even the smallest way possible.
