Q2 General Membership Meeting 2021

Despite the adverse effects of the ongoing pandemic, the Philippine electronics industry remains as the country’s top US$ export earner, a significant driver of the Philippine economy  and the largest contributor to the country’s manufacturing sector.

In 2020, the industry accounted for US$ 39.67 billion, or 62.2%, of the country’s total  commodity exports and employs over 3 million direct and indirect workers. In March 2021,  the electronics exports reached US$ 3.90 billion, an increase of 20% from the previous month.  This comprises 58.4% of the US$ 6.68 billion total Philippine exports for the month.

The Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI),  the leading organization of multinational and Filipino-owned semiconductor and electronics  companies in the country with 345 members, promotes the competitiveness of the Philippines as a business environment for semiconductors and electronics technologies in the global  market.

To keep its members and partners informed and engaged amidst the pandemic, SEIPI holds  virtual quarterly General Membership Meetings (GMM’s), which are attended by its member companies’ CEOs, Presidents, General Managers, Directors, Executives, and Government  Partners of the Philippine semiconductor and electronics industry. The GMM’s provide updates  on the latest technology trends and government policies affecting the Philippine electronics  industry.

On May 28, 2021, 9:00 AM, SEIPI will hold its 2nd Quarter General Membership Meeting  (GMM) via Zoom Webinar.


With the theme “Accelerating Digital Transformation in the Electronics Industry: Trends,  Challenges and Opportunities,” this GMM will present technology trends and opportunities  for the Philippine electronics industry to progress in the digital transformation journey. SEIPI will  also provide updates on government’s plans to enhance the industry’s global competitiveness  during these trying times.

SEIPI has lined up distinguished government and industry speakers who will discuss policies,  trends and advancements in digital transformation. SEIPI President, Dr. Dan Lachica, and SEIPI  Chairman and General Manager, Continental Temic Electronics (Phils.) Inc., Mr. Glenn Everett,  will discuss the industry performance and outlook for the 2nd quarter of the year, respectively. DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez and House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco will share updates on legislative and regulatory measures supporting digital transformation and industry growth. Blaize  CEO Mr. Dinakar Munagala will present technology trends, with focus on their newest AI applications. Microsoft Philippines Country General Manager Mr. Andrés Ortola will discuss Microsoft’s latest innovative solutions transforming the industry. ePLDT Group President and  CEO Mr. Juan Victor Hernandez, will talk about their 5G technology advancements and how it  can sustain manufacturing growth. Lastly, National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief  Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. will discuss the COVID-19 situation and the updates  on the vaccine rollout for economic recovery.
