Research Fair 2021: Top High School Students take part in Premier Research Event

This coming January 28 to 30, 2021, The UP Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students (UP ALCHEMES) will hold its annual flagship event, Research Fair, one of the country’s largest research events for high school students. Now in its 20th year, the event will take place online for the first time. High school students from across the country will have the chance to participate in the events Research Fair 2021 has to offer.

With the theme “SPITZER: Rediscovering Youth Aspirations through Scientific Ventures”, the event serves to promote the use of science and technology in improving the present and setting the future. Much like the theme’s namesake, the NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope, Research Fair 2021 aims to provide students with a unique perspective of the universe and enable access to knowledge yet to be discovered.

Research Fair continues to provide students a platform to showcase their scientific discoveries and innovations through the Research Competition. Furthermore, they are given the opportunity to participate in value-adding seminars and workshops in the Youth Science Convention, including a Case Study Competition on coral reef rehabilitation. Participants will also compete with one another and test their scientific knowledge and prowess in the National Science Conquest.

Research Fair humbly began in 2001 as a one-day event with just 10 research entries. The event has grown through the years and was expanded into a three-day event in 2010. Last year’s Research Fair brought in over 600 participants from more than 50 schools across the Philippines.
