Top 9 trends that New Bold U aims to foster on its third edition

To bring a platform that will re-imagine new ways to educate people with ideas to thrive and give them an optimistic drive for the future while we at the onslaught of the pandemic, 2019 Asia’s Most Outstanding Marketer and Serial Entrepreneur Ralph Layco is conducting the 3rd edition of New Bold University from January 28-30, 2021.

On its year 3, New Bold University also known as New Bold U will feature some of the country’s top minds who are shaking things up in their respective industries

Speakers like Francis Kong, Anthony Pangilinan, and Steve Sy will share some powerful insights you can use in your life’s calling, improve your chances to win bigger in life, and make you stronger to face the challenges of the new year amid the pandemic. They are tribe leaders and thought leaders who will help spark curiosity, growth and imagination, but also has a strong moral compass that inspires people to do good

This year, the event will go virtual and students will be immersed with innovative, dynamic and fun ways of distance learning in the new world.

New Bold U Founder Ralph Layco has enumerated below the 9 trends that New Bold U aims to foster on its third edition and how students will be empowered by these trends and shifts on their careers.

1) The number one attitude all people need to have ingrained, entrepreneurs or employees alike, is being adaptive. Our skills are dispensable. Thus, we are all replace-able. Even your boss, too. Sadly, the skills we learned in university, though some are good foundations, are not applicable to the hyper-speed of technology.

2) The big institutional schools will be less and less preferred in 5-10 years. I have a friend who acquired 5 skills during the pandemic, and he got to land a major account with a 6-digit salary. None he learned from Ateneo and La salle or UP.  He doesn’t need a degree. People are realizing that universities are becoming inefficient. We are now living in the times where we have the most access to knowledge. Youtube is already a university by itself, a powerhouse platform of relevant info and content shared by actual experts. Others will learn in quora, reddit, platforms like Mindvalley, Masterclass and coaches selling online courses with actual results. Curiosity is their engine and the world online is their new university!  And the real world is their playground. Nothing like this happened before.

3) The thought leaders of 2012 are becoming less relevant. The new rising teachers now are thought leaders in Tiktok, Instagram and Youtube. They actually apply what they preach, they have numbers to show and they respond more real time. Plus, they are more entertaining.

Thus, we need to be present where the audiences are. And stop sounding too smart.

4) Starting a brand is no longer about trying to sell to your niche but becoming a vehicle of your niche’s personal development. There’s a new ‘woke’ culture integrating to our lifestyle. People who are more open to embrace new mindsets and way of living. They are also more socially vigilant, less tolerant of injustices. If you don’t care about social movements, the less the market cares about you as well.  Thus, grow as a person that leads to reflecting how you grow your brand. Building brands is now a personal thing.

5) If you are not online, you’ll be off the line. As the economy is becoming more uncertain the upcoming months (and years), the best way to stay relevant is to be found online and BE engaging online. People buy and choose brands who has more social-proof and has a story to tell. If you don’t have any, then they will check the next one. People switch their attentions from products and brands the same way they switch channels.

6) Storytelling will become the most important skill for leaders and entrepreneurs. If you don’t know how to connect to the hearts of the people, you’ll sell but sell less. People no longer just check brands, they check the founder, the vision and his plans. Thus, share your emotional episodes (ups, downs, failures, realizations, and your sentiments regarding the word we live in). People buy from people whose humanity and values reflect theirs. And you can do that strongly by mastering storytelling.

7) The new bosses now are young 20+ year olds. Every week, there are hundreds of previous employees and 18-year-olds who are selling anything. They are growth mindset individuals that come together in coaching sessions, forum and Facebook groups. Some don’t have perfect grammar but boy, do they have the tenacity. I suggest don’t hate the player, hate the game or better yet, adapt to the game.

8 ) Your degree is increasingly getting irrelevant. Not applicable to people with degrees in Law, Medicine and specialized degrees, your school’s current syllabus is mostly not 2021 ready.  The new currency of reputation are projects accomplished and recommendations by previous bosses and project leaders, and Google searches with your name as keyword. Less priority to the degree you took. Check the last time someone actually ask for a certified true copy of your diploma.

9 ) The future will be led by the bold. People who are brave enough to try new solutions are the ones who will lead us. In 10 years, most leaders and CEOs won’t even have a degree.

Since its foundation in 2019, New Bold U has produced topnotch freelancers, thought leaders, business leaders and entrepreneurs who became CEOs of their respective businesses.

The New Bold U 2021 Virtual Conference will be held on Jan. 28-30. You may visit www.newboldu.com or their official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/newboldu for more details on the enrollment process.
