BDCP Awards Season 2 finalists now revealed

The Best-Designed Campus Paper (BDCP) Awards, the first and only award-giving body for campus paper design, has now released its finalists for different categories, January 1.

Instead of a physical awarding ceremony originally set for December 2020, a virtual awarding of the winners will be live-streamed on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2021 at 10 pm via BDCP’s official Facebook page.

“Our team will exert collective efforts to put up an excellent virtual awards night to give justice to all amazing entries for the second season of BDCP Awards. They deserve nothing but the best,” Alvin Hizon, BDCP Founder said.

The BDCP Awards aims to recognize, honor, and celebrate the best practices, excellence, and innovation demonstrated by the country’s campus newspapers which showcased visual and creative excellence in their news design, layout, and content.

It also intends to foster the exchange of information on how school papers are designed throughout the country.

LEVEL UP

To expand its influence and sustain momentum, the BDCP Awards has updated its awards categories. This year, a total of 197 entries vied for 34 categories – 5 in Main Categories, 18 in Sub-Categories, and 11 Special Categories.

“We had a hard time choosing which campus paper would net a certain award because they are all unique and great. Gone are the days that we’re seeing a common prototype of campus newspaper design and content. The Philippine campus press has clearly stepped up and we have nothing to do but keep on improving,” Hizon stated.

The entries were judged by esteemed layout artists, graphic designers, campus publication specialists, art/creative directors, and journalists from different news agencies and publishing entities.

The Top 10 best-designed campus papers will each receive a Medallion of Creative Excellence, while the Best-Designed Campus Paper of the Philippines will receive P10, 000, a plaque of recognition, and the BDCP Seal of Creative and Visual Excellence.

The INQUIRER.net, POP!, When in Manila, and College Editors Guild of the Philippines serve as the official media partners of the BDCP Awards Season 2.

Meanwhile, the complete list of finalists in different award categories are posted on BDCP’s official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/bestdesignedph
