The UP Circle of Entrepreneurs introduces HIRASOL: An Art & Literary Contest, currently ongoing since November 23, 2020 up until January 16,2020. This event is geared at highlighting the giftedness of Filipino individuals in the arts, whether it be in visual or literary form. It is a great opportunity for aspiring individuals to showcase their respective artistic talents.
The competition has two categories: Visual and Literary art. Being true to the event name, contestants are expected to submit their art piece taking inspiration from the “Hirasol” or sunflower. This year has been challenging for the Philippines. As such, contestants are asked to take inspiration from the sunflower, a symbol of hope and strength, to create hope in times of chaos.
Fear not… For the beauty of art emanates not from its popularity, but from its technique. Hirasol is NOT a popularity contest, no voting from the public will be used to determine the winners. Instead, the submitted art pieces will be judged by a panel composed of renowned literary and visual arts experts. Each piece will be judged according to a set rubric without any regard for the popularity of the entry. The top three talents who show exceptional skills in the two categories will each receive a cash prize, plus a feature of the winning artists on Hirasol’s page!
