UP Cells spearheads a voyaging exhibit

In celebrating 30 years of uplifting Cell Biology to the Filipino youth, the UP Cell Biological Society (UP Cells), an academic organization in the University of the Philippines Los Banos, held an online Anniversary Week Celebration, November 9-20.

Launching this year’s theme, “VOYAGE: Migratory Cellular Processes in Life Inception and Disease Formation,” the organization shed light on cell migration by releasing infographics, emphasizing its role in perpetuating life. Among the subevents include an educational webinar and NeurON, an online quiz challenge comprising three rounds: Unipolar (easy), Bipolar (average), and Multipolar (difficult).

As for the anniversary’s main event, an educational webinar entitled,  “Across the Micro and Macro World,” was held last November 15, 1-4 pm. Dr. Reynaldo Garcia of the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology discussed an intricate facet of cell migration with the title: Morphological Plasticity and Transient Structures in Migrating Cancer Cells. Together with this, Ms. Abigail Mary Claire F. Ablang, Chairperson of Agham Youth National, addressed the State of Philippine Science and Technology as well as the current situation and the challenges faced by the Flipino scientists.

In partnership with 24 organizations from different universities and with 350 event attendees, the UP Cells’ anniversary celebration has successfully imparted valuable knowledge regarding cell migration across the vast seas of the online platform.
