This year Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham Philippines) will host its first virtual Canadian Thanksgiving celebration free for all in the Philippines and the world. The two hour video event will be shown on CanCham’s Facebook on October 10, 2020, Saturday starting at 8 pm Live – https://www.facebook.com/CANCHAMPhilippines.
Every year Canadians around the world celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving that is formally a public holiday in Canada on the second Monday in October. This Canadian event precedes its US counterpart event not only each calendar year but also historically with the first reported thanksgiving feast in North America in 1578. For convenience of family viewing the CanCham event in 2020 will be held on Saturday, two days earlier.
Julian Payne, President of CanCham told the Inquirer that “This year’s event is a ground breaking Canadian Thanksgiving for us as being virtual, in bringing entertainment with iconic Canadian activities, and in a format that can be enjoyed by families in their homes all across the Philippine archipelago and beyond both the Philippine seas, east and west”.
He noted that the varied program will include: a short history of Canadian Thanksgiving; demos of Canadian Thanksgiving cuisine, beautiful ice figure skating, Canada’s original and official game of Lacrosse; and the Musical Ride of the famed Royal Canadian Mounted Police
There will be special messages from Canada’s federal Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth as well as the Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines.
