On September 22, 2018, the University of Asia and the Pacific will be hosting the “Engaging the Leaders of Tomorrow: National Sustainability Summit for Millennials and Gen Zs”. The event will be gathering 500 student leaders from more than 100 student leaders and 25 universities from the National Capital Region.
The summit is specifically designed to cater to the Filipino Millennials (aged 22-35) and the Gen Zs (aged 19-21 and below). These group of students, together with their capacity to become the “critical mass” for change, will mold the future for the sustainability of the country.
At the end of the summit, the participants are expected to draft a “Manila Youth Sustainability Pledge”, which is a document based on the voluntary commitments of the participants to implement universal sustainability principles and to undertake positive and affirmative actions.
The future is uncertain. The only insurance to an uncertain future is a generation that is well-equipped to take on its challenges.
