Months after #NeckDeepManila2018, we’re coming back with another one that’s sure to knock your socks off again—Bazooka Rocks presents Tiny Moving Parts Live in Manila, powered by PULP Magazine and PULP Live World! Save the date and be sure to be at Skydome, SM North EDSA on September 7, 2018.
It’s been a huge year so far for Minnesota trio Tiny Moving Parts who kicked off 2018 with the successful release of their latest album, Swell. They followed this up with a headlining tour across the US with over 30 dates, most of them having been sold-out shows. Now, after playing their biggest headlining shows to date, the band continues to make the most of the year. They’re preparing to make their way to places they never imagined they’d get to play back when they started out jamming in basements years and years ago. They’re set to return to Europe, but not until after they head to Australia and Asia for the first time ever. Manila, Philippines will be the final stop of Tiny Moving Parts’ six-stop Asia Tour 2018, and we can already tell how special it’s going to be!
Swell is the latest to come from Tiny Moving Parts following 2016’s Celebrate, both albums released through Triple Crown Records and Big Scary Monsters. Making up the band are brothers Matthew Chevalier (bass, vocals) and Billy Chevalier (drums), along with their cousin Dylan Mattheisen (guitar, vocals). A self-described “family band,” Tiny Moving Parts hail from the tiny town of Benson, Minnesota and started out back when they were in junior high. Now, they’re a band with a growing catalogue of relatable anthems—ones you might perhaps find in a playlist with songs by their former tour-mates The Front Bottoms and Modern Baseball, or even by our former Bazooka Rocks acts State Champs and The Wonder Years.
The music world would often box them into the “emo revival” category, at times pop punk, indie, or math rock, but they’re a band that seemingly couldn’t care less about what their music is called. They are, after all, more concerned with creating music that people can enjoy and relate to. “We don’t think too much about what genre we’re getting thrown into. We are just happy that people enjoy our music, and can feel something from it,” vocalist and guitarist Dylan Mattheisen tells PULP Magazine in an exclusive interview.
Since day one, they’ve continued to develop their sound into something of their own through a number of records now, Swell being their sixth. Evolving yet consistent is how we describe their music, and this is something that makes Tiny Moving Parts so worth the listen. Swell, to many, is the best piece of work to come from the band, with tracks like “Caution,” “Applause,” “Warm Hand Splash,” and more. Released back in January 26, 2018, the album has tracks that continue to resonate and draw people into Tiny Moving Parts shows. September couldn’t come soon enough as we all look forward to sing and scream along to these songs!
Joining the fun at Skydome are 3/3 (Thirds), a local act comprised of Noodle Perez (guitar/vocals), Levi Reyes (bass, back up vocals), and Nikki Cuna (drums). No strangers to us, the trio is excited to once again play a Bazooka-powered show, years after the three of them first played at Bazooka Rocks Festival with their former band, Nyctinasty.
