Beyond Colors and Prejudice, JPES National Convention ‘18

Nowadays, with the advent of technology, the news is rapidly spread online. With this, we involve ourselves more easily in discussions regarding governance and policy-making in which can be viewed as a good sign of national consciousness that can lead to optimal decision-making. However, for discourse to lead to an optimal solution, one must learn to listen and set aside his or her biases, leading to a compromise.

In this year’s National Convention, the Junior Philippine Economics Society (JPES) presents to you “Beyond Colors and Prejudice: Viewing the Philippine Economy Without Biases.” This convention is happening on February 24, 2018, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the University of Santo Tomas, Medicine Auditorium, and is open to everyone (registration link: https://goo.gl/4fjyjz).

The event‘s goal is to serve as a platform for intellectual discourse about the different issues in our society today and to view the economy in the clearest way possible (meaning from a standpoint of an apolitical person) amidst these controversies. It also aims for the attendees to practice their capacity to deduce what’s right or what’s wrong and not just absorb what they hear or read.

The five (5) esteemed resource speakers of the event are: Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, 17th Congress; Undersecretary Thomas “Tim” Orbos, Department of Transportation; Director Mark David Ablang, Department of Finance; Vice President Lawrence Dacuycuy, Philippine Economic Society; and Board Secretary Nikkin Beronilla, National Anti-Poverty Commission.

This convention is brought to you by the following sponsors:
