ICYMI, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson was present on Wednesday for the Senate public information committee hearing on fake news, wherein she claimed to be a victim of fake news brought about by mainstream media. Mocha slammed several media organizations for “creating fake news” about her—the reason why, according to her, she was bashed on social media.
As a blogger, Uson helped in the proliferation of erroneous news when she posted several photos and articles without verifying sources and fact-checking. After her appointment as PCOO Asec., Uson was still at the top her game, calling out people like VP Leni Robredo while using a year-old article and performing in casinos even though government officials are prohibited to do so.
During the fake news hearing, after saying she was a victim of fake news, Senator Bam Aquino confronted Uson on the issue of fairness. Uson replied, “I have the right to refuse (to answer the question). I have the right to.. I have the right, ano po? I have the right against self-discri-ano.. against self-incrimination. Pasensya na.”
Aquino countered that invoking one’s right against self-incrimination presupposes a crime was committed.
People on Twitter just lost it and couldn’t handle the idea of Mocha Uson being a victim fake news and invoking her right against self-discrimination.
