Filipino vlogger under fire for ‘disrespecting’ BINI’s Mikha during his TikTok live

Influencer Gavin Capinpin, popularly known as Ser Geybin, has recently come under criticism after a screen recording of his TikTok live circulated on X (Twitter), showing him disrespecting the image of Mikha Lim, a member of the Filipino girl group BINI.

In the video, the influencer is seen laughing while ‘jokingly’ kissing the photo of the girl group, which did not sit well with BLOOMS (the fandom name of BINI), especially considering how vocal the girls are about respecting women.

The act has sparked anger from other fans, who are calling Ser Geybin ‘kadiri [disgusting]’ and ‘bastos [pervert].’

BLOOMS expressed their disappointment towards the influencer, especially since the reach of people like Ser Geybin is wide, and his audience may include young children. Most of Ser Geybin’s content also features his family and their bond, which may contradict his behavior towards women, especially considering fans have pointed out that he has a girlfriend and should not act inappropriately towards others. Fans are saying that men shouldn’t feel too comfortable sexualizing women, even if their intention is to entertain, because objectifying women, especially those younger than them, must be respected at all times.

comments to gavinThis day also happens to be a special one for BINI as it marks the graduation of two of their members from Senior High School. Fans decry that what should have been a focus on positivity was overshadowed by inappropriate behavior

While this post is still gaining attention, other fans are also requesting that it be taken down because they claim that the girls are frequently online, and the possibility of them seeing the video is high, which will definitely make them uncomfortable.

If any, this call out shows that times are definitely changing, and objectification of women is hard no-no already.
