After being kidnapped as a toddler and later fostered by a billionaire family, a Chinese man finally returns to his real parents, who happen to be millionaires.
Mei Zhiqiang, 27, known as “natural-born Fu’erdai” or “rich second generation” and dubbed “abducted young master” by internet users, was reunited with his biological family in 2022. In a report from the South China Morning Post, Mei spoke about his experiences as an ‘adopted’ kid and his life-changing decision to go back to his true home last year.
In 1997, Mei was abducted by human traffickers while playing outside his home in Yunnan Province in southwestern China when he was 2 years old. However, the abductors left him because he was too ‘thin and small’ as a child. When his parents discovered that he was missing, they began a more than two-decade-long search.
Meanwhile, Mei was adopted by a billionaire clan in Fujian Province. He grew up with two older sisters and a younger brother, who are all birth children of his foster parents. Since he was not their own child, Mei felt that he did not belong to their family. After graduating from secondary school, he did not proceed to the university anymore because his adoptive parents viewed education as ‘useless’.
According to Mei Xianhua and Pan Chang’e, Zhiqiang’s parents, their family never experienced celebrating the Spring Festival with a happy heart after their son vanished. The whole family, including Mei’s elder sister and two younger brothers, celebrated his birthday every year despite his absence. However, none of them could eat the cake well due to the extreme grief lurking within the four walls of their house.
Luckily, their long-term search was put to an end when their friend helped them have a DNA test with Zhiqiang. When they discovered the truth, they reunited and became a whole family again.
Currently, Mei handles his birth parents’ hotel supply company. As he found the genuine love, happiness, and comfort that he had been longing for for a very long time, Mei’s only desire right now is to live a peaceful life with his real family.
