Youthink Center presents SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy

The United Nations highlights that the world today is home to the largest generation of young people in history. At about 1.8 billion individuals, young people represent the future generations. They are at the heart of solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, since they are both the contributor and beneficiary of such solutions. This makes youth involvement an integral part of responding to the different global challenges we face today. It was with this in mind that Youthink Center,  a youth “think+do” tank that focuses on global challenges and opportunities, was established. The goal of Youthink is to discover, speculate and solve problems from youth perspectives.

Youthink Center continues to provide the youth with programs that empower them to create innovative solutions for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Social Business, Youth Leadership, and the Environment. This year, as part of its commitment to the UN 2030 Agenda, Youthink is proud to present the SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy, the biggest community program around the world for young leaders launching on the 22nd of September 2020 during the 75th United Nations General Assembly High Level Week.

The SocialBusiness4SDG Leadership Academy aims to inspire and encourage young people to take action for the Sustainable Development Goals, more specifically to use Social Business as a means to achieve them. The event also aims to hone the capacities of young leaders for them to respond to different global challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this, participants will have the opportunity to attend high-level events during the UNGA Week. After this, they will attend international level training sessions on social business and have a dialogue with Youth4SDG Champions. As Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus said, we are at a time when we have the opportunity to rebuild our nations. With the COVID-19 Pandemic affecting all countries in the world, this is a chance for us to build new paths towards prosperity with great involvement of young people.

“There is no going back to the old world. This is not a recovery process, but a rebuilding process. Let us not follow the old path, this is the time to build new paths.”

As we take on this goal of achieving the UN SDGs, we are inviting young people from all over the world to join us and be part of this program.
