Youth-led organization hosts free webinar series on COVID-19

The youth-led organization Labang Pangkalusugan announced a free, six-part webinar series on COVID-19 entitled Tanglaw: COVID-19 Through the Eyes of the Filipino. The webinar is scheduled throughout July 6 to July 17, featuring various speakers like Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda and select professors and researchers of the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Tanglaw is divided into lectures and panel discussions, covering the science and math behind the virus and the socio-economic implications of the pandemic. Those interested in attending can choose however many sessions they wish to join. Participants who join at least three sessions will receive a Certificate of Appreciation, while those who attend all sessions will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Created to serve as an opportunity to interact with and learn from advocates and professionals, the Tanglaw series is Labang Pangkalusugan’s third initiative to take action during today’s pandemic. Established at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, Labang Pangkalusugan was created by a team of college students to provide reliable and comprehensive information on the virus and its implications. Besides posting infographics on social media, the organization has been able to donate 2,200 face shields and 12,500 cloth face masks to health institutions, frontliners, and essential workers. They have also raised ₱157,974 for 119 of Manila HealthTek’s rRT-PCR COVID-19 tests, to be donated to public hospitals like the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Leyte, the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center in Benguet, and UP NIH in Manila.
