‘Car thief’ accidentally leaves ID and phone behind after his victim catches him in the act

We are not glorifying any illegal acts here—but isn’t the first rule of committing, let’s say, robbery is to leave no traces of evidence at the scene? (Actually, it’s already common knowledge even if you’re not involved in some shenanigans.)

But this car thief, who thought his crime getaway was a success, inadvertently left his ID and smartphone after his victim had caught him red-handed. Yikes.

Reported by Manchester Evening News, it was indeed an unlucky day for the vehicle burglar after he had dropped not just one but two valuables in an attempt to flee the scene. The news outlet added that the guy’s phone was still logged into his Facebook account—making it easier for the victim to get into his account.

The victim’s friend even tagged the unnamed thief in a Facebook post, saying:

“So here is newton heaths finest master mind. Attempted to nick my mates van tonight… 1st major fault was being seen, 2nd was leaving all yes ALL of his details behind. Phone, driving license. No words but wor just a thick p***. If anyone knows this guy please get in touch, he will need his phone back! SHARE THIS.”

Meanwhile, for some “lockdown laughs,” the victim then decided to pose as the alleged suspect by updating his Facebook status.

Even though there aren’t any updates on this yet, online users kept saying that it was the highlight of their Tuesday night.
