Have you ever seen something strange flying in the sky? You might’ve even thought it could be a plane, a meteorite, or Superman himself coming to save the earth. But some conspiracy theorists believe that these strange objects can be unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
Historically speaking, these “UFO sightings” have left scientific experts with a lot of unanswered questions–mainly because the evidence remains to be insubstantial. However, a number of conspiracy theories have emerged. Many of which state that these UFOs contain extraterrestrials who visit the earth. But the proper authorities have never confirmed any of these speculations.
Speaking of UFOs, a resident of Cambridgeshire, England, shared the most recent story about the mysterious flying object he saw. The Sun reported that 55-year-old Gerry Underwood witnessed the “flaming object” last April 15, around 8 pm, while he was in his canal boat in Stretham, Cambs.
According to Underwood, the object he saw looked like a thick chemtrail. A skinny cloud could also be seen slowly moving down into the woods and then, subsequently disappearing.
In an interview with The Sun, he claimed that “We have seen hundreds of shooting stars, but this definitely wasn’t that either.”
Together with his partner, Melanie, they watched the blazing tornado trail downwards for more or less than 2o minutes.
“The sheer size of it is what’s got me. When you look at the pictures, they show the trees in the foreground and its way beyond that, it was very big. It landed beyond the horizon, that’s how big it was – we couldn’t see it land.”
Space experts explained the mysterious sighting
On the other hand, the National Space Academy (NSA), a nonprofit organization for space education, explained that this phenomenon was possibly a “contrail from a high altitude jet.” The contrail is defined as line-shaped clouds (with ice crystals) that formed behind an aircraft passing through the sky.
The NSA also recorded a cargo plane flew at 34,000 feet–only minutes before the photo was taken. The red-orange color was caused by the sunset that lit up the contrail, thereby explaining why the object appears to be moving when in fact, the sun scans through the trail.
The Daily Mail also shared a video of the strange sightings on their website, for more details.
Whether you agree with the conspiracy theorists or the space experts, one thing’s for sure, this was definitely a strange sight to see!
