UP College of Medicine Regionalization Students Organization presents the 7th Philippine Conference on Community Health

Throughout the years, the Regionalization Student Organization (RSO) has sought to raise awareness among medical and allied health students and professionals directed towards strengthening community health support. At the forefront of these projects is the Philippine Conference on Community Health (PCCH). In the previous years, PCCH tackled topics such as the Philippine health system, career paths, and innovations in healthcare, as well as disaster risk reduction and management. On its 7th year, the conference will take a closer look on our society and at the different threads that intertwine to create the fabric that is our health system with the theme HABI: Pagbubuklod ng mga Salik ng Lipunan Bilang Tugon sa Kalusugang Pangkomunidad” .

At the core of the Philippine health care system is community health. Therefore, it is important to understand how different sectors of society function towards achieving health for all. This year’s conference aims to provide a holistic approach by going beyond the biomedical and focusing on the social determinants of health.

Our Speakers

The discussions will be led by our esteemed speakers who will discuss the relevant roles played by the different systems and institutions in promoting community health. Hear about the importance of providing medical service to the underserved from our keynote speaker: Dr. Lionel Peters. Dubbed as “Doktor Demotor” in a GMA I-Witness documentary, Dr. Peters has served as a Doctor to the Barrio in the remote town of Agutaya, Palawan. Among the roster of plenary speakers is Atty. Lee Edson Yarcia, MD who will focus on the role of legislation in the healthcare system. Kabataan Partylist Representative, Hon. Sarah Jane Elago will talk about the importance of education. Dr. Eduardo Banzon, the Principal Health Specialist in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of the Asian Development Bank will elaborate on the role of economics.
