Fast Forward 2020, this year entitled “Seizing Opportunities”, is one of the Ateneo Management Association’s premier projects for the School Year 2019-2020. It’s a two-day event to be held on January 31, 2020 (Friday) and February 3, 2020 (Monday) open to selected Ateneo de Manila University students. It features a variety of company tours, engagements with industry professionals, and many more. Here, participants and partner companies are given the opportunity to interact with potential internship or employment opportunities in mind, while giving the participants a glimpse of what the professional corporate setting is like – the reality outside the four walls of a classroom.
The organization has partnered with five major companies this year, encompassing different fields, in order to cater to possible interests participants may have. The first company is JG Summit Holdings Inc., known as one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines with business interests in air transportation, banking, food manufacturing, hotels, petrochemicals, power generation, publishing, real estate and property development, and telecommunications. The next company is UNILAB Inc., the leading pharmaceutical company in the Philippines, which caters to some of the biggest prescription and over-the-counter brands in the country. Third is local giant Globe Telecom Inc., a known major provider of telecommunications services in the Philippines. It operates one of the largest mobile, fixed line, and broadband networks. Aboitiz Equity Ventures, another participating company, is recognized as one of the best-managed companies in the Philippines and is consistently cited for its commitment to good corporate governance and social responsibility. They have delved into the power, land, infrastructure, food, and banking industries and found great success. The last participating company needs no introduction: Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI), a Philippine-based company engaged in the bottling and nationwide distribution of the world-famous Cola-Cola products.
Anyone interested in having a glimpse of what life is like in a corporate setting will gain a lot from taking part in this event. In just two days’ worth of talks and tours, participants will be able to learn about the ins and outs of various industries, briefly immerse themselves in the companies’ environments, and even get to learn soft skills such as time and workload management, communication skills, and other useful tips. To top off the experience, participants will have the chance to establish networks with this year’s partner companies as participant contact details and resumes are passed on from the organization to these companies for easier communication in the future.
