FEU Auditorium’s 70th year celebrated with FEU Theater Guild’s ‘The Dreamweavers’

The Dreamweaver Alignment of Stars

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of FEU’s President’s Committee on Culture, the FEU Theater Guild comes home to the FEU Auditorium with “The Dreamweavers,” written by Rody Vera and directed by Dudz Teraña who is now celebrating his 10th year as the Artistic Director of the university-wide theater organization. The first production of the FEU Theater Guild on its 85th theater season makes its way back to the historic FEU Auditorium after already being successfully staged in 2011 on the same stage that is now celebrating its 70th anniversary. The show shall run from December 6 to 7 with 3PM, and 7PM shows on the 6th, and a special 2PM show on the 7th. This play also marks the first-ever use of the FEU Auditorium as a venue for an FTG performance since its closing for renovation in 2015 and reopening in late 2018.

Three Girls Bound by a Piece of Cloth

Take a stroll down memory lane and experience the rural lifestyles of Filipinos during the 90s. “The Dreamweavers” tells the story of three girls, their separation, and their subsequent journeys through life still bound by their strong friendship. Watch as these girls almost force their way through lives paved with difficulties brought about by the general difficulty of starting out poor in a money-driven world while also being subjected to the skewed treatment to women of the pre-2000s era and how a single piece of cloth could be a priceless representation of love, loss, and healing.

The Teraña Legacy

This play serves as the first part of the celebration of Dudz Teraña’s 10th anniversary as the artistic director of the FEU Theater Guild. Since taking on the position in 2009, Teraña has directed numerous productions such as, among others, Risa Jopson’s “Makikitawag Lang Ako,” which was recently restaged in October with various positive reviews; Allan Lopez’s “Anatomiya ng Pag-Ibig,” fresh from Fringe! Manila 2017—an international arts festival; Dominique La Victoria’s “Ang Bata sa Drum,” FTG’s first participation in the popular Virgin Labfest and which also came back as a revisited play the following year;  And Teraña’s original, “Usapang X,” winner of the Gintong Arao Best Play Award of the UP Curtain Call: A Juan-Act Play Festival in 2014.

The Dreamweavers features three recurring artists: Cornerstone Entertainment, Inc. Talent Manager Cristine Calawod as BON, GMA Artist Divine Aucina as LIBAY, and PETA Senior Artist-Teacher Meann Espinosa as THE TOURIST.

Ticket prices:

DECEMBER 6 SHOW: PHP 100 for the FEU Community with a valid ID, and PHP 200 for guests.
